The loofah

The Luffa Plant

Luffa is a cucurbit of the squash variety. Luffa is written in different ways: loofa, luffa, loufah or loufa. Luffa is a part that remains of the exotic squash after drying.

Loofah has been used as a natural sponge for many years in some Asian and African countries. It is used for household cleaning and skin care "peeling". Loofah is used raw, it is cut into sponge-shaped parts.

The loofah is cut into the shape of a sponge for the body or for household cleaning.

How to use loofah for skin?

The loofah fibers are dense and tight, which allows for a relatively gentle scrub for the body. The fact that the loofah fibers are dense allows water and soap to be retained.

  • Open the pores of your skin by moistening it with warm water.
  • Moisten your loofah as you wish. The wetter you make it, the softer it will be.
  • Rub your solid soap or put your liquid soap on the sponge.
  • Apply to your skin by rubbing in circular movements from top to bottom of the body.
  • Rinse the entire body from bottom to top, we advise you to use cool water to improve blood circulation.
  • A little tip, if you have dry skin you can use natural vegetable oil to restore tone and make it shine.
  • Remember to rinse the loofah well and then wring it out. The loofah can be machine washed, you can clean it with your terry cloth household linen (gloves, towels, sponges, etc.)
  • Allow the loofah to air dry.

How to use loofah for home maintenance?

The loofah is used as a non-scratch sponge. The loofah can be used on all surfaces because it does not scratch. You can use it with natural products for household maintenance, just soak or sprinkle over the loofah.

The loofah can clean stainless steel, ceramic hobs, tiles, aluminium, etc. without leaving any scratches.

Recommended natural cleaning products: vinegar, baking soda, black soap and Marseille soap.

It can replace the sponge for washing dishes, cleaning tiles or even windows in your bathroom.

Above all, remember to air dry it well after each use! The more you take care of your loofah, the more durable it will be over time.
