Description

What is a hygienic cup?

The menstrual cup, or menstrual cup , is a small , flexible silicone bell that collects blood during your period - unlike tampons and disposable sanitary towels, which absorb blood.

Why is it an ecological protection and a product that respects women's bodies?

The benefits of the menstrual cup are numerous, it is an ecological and economical hygienic protection since it will last you a few years without having any impact on the environment. The cup is hygienic and respectful of your privacy, it does not contain chemical substances as in disposable protections. Once you have gotten the hang of inserting it, you will quickly realize that the cup is practical and comfortable. With this cup you have a small organic cotton carrying bag to store it.

Made of medical grade silicone , this protection is the most ecological: no more chlorine-bleached cotton to insert into your vagina every month, no more waste that goes into the trash, no more plastic sanitary towels made with perfumes or endocrine disruptors. The cup is truly an interesting ecological alternative in all aspects.

The menstrual cup will make your period less restrictive!

Brands like Claripharm, Lunacopine or Jho offer two sizes of menstrual cups. At Caliquo, we offer three different sizes to best fit the vaginas and flow of women during their periods.

Our menstrual cup is reusable for each cycle and for several years. Completely invisible, the cup revolutionizes women's intimate hygiene. Hygienic protections such as tampons or disposable towels had better watch out!

Instructions for use

Some tips for inserting your menstrual cups

1) Wash your hands and clean your menstrual cup well before each use. Adopt a comfortable position (as for inserting a disposable tampon) and fold the cup between 2 fingers.

2) Insert the folded cup into your vagina and gently push it with your fingers but do not go too far because it is inserted less deeply than a tampon. Once the cup is inside, it will naturally return to its original shape.

3) Make sure the cup is correctly positioned by passing your finger between the menstrual cup and the vaginal wall to check that it has unfolded correctly; if not, gently rotate it on itself.

4) The stick must be at the entrance of the vagina and accessible for removal of the cup.

To remove the cup:

1) Wash your hands and grab the swab and pinch the base of the cup.

2) Empty the cup and rinse it thoroughly with warm, soapy water.

How to sterilize your cup?

Before any use, and at the end of each cycle, you must sterilize your cup in a large quantity of boiling water for 5 minutes. Once sterilized and dried, keep your cup in the cotton bag provided for this purpose.

How to clean menstrual cups?

During your period, once the cup is removed and emptied, simply rinse it with soap and water and let it air dry. You have to do this every time! It is imperative to sterilize your cup with each new menstrual cycle.

How long can I keep the cup?

You can wear the menstrual cup for up to 6 hours maximum.

Between 4 and 6 hours is the optimal time. We do not recommend wearing the cup at night to limit the risk of developing toxic shock syndrome (this syndrome is not linked to the use of a menstrual cup but can be developed with any hygienic protection)

Choosing your cup

How to choose a suitable cup?

Some information to help you choose your ideal menstrual cup:

You need to consider the period of the cycle. At the beginning of the cycle, the periods are light and then can change to a heavier flow in the middle of the cycle. If this is the case, you can take 2 different sizes of cup in order to have suitable protection for each day of your period.

  • Menstrual cup - size S : light flow, suitable for virgin women or women who have not given birth vaginally (dimensions excluding stem: 46x38mm - 16ml) > 20g

  • Menstrual cup - size M : normal flow (dimensions excluding stem: 49x41mm - 21ml) > 20g

  • Menstrual cup - size L : heavy flow, suitable for women who have already given birth vaginally (dimensions excluding stem: 52x44mm - 28ml) > 20g

Some tips:

When using it for the first time, practice inserting and removing it to get used to it. It is also advisable to wet the menstrual cup with water or use lubricant to help you. You will be comfortable with the cup after 2 or 3 cycles.

If you are worried about leaks, use a washable sanitary towel in addition to the menstrual cup. But be aware that the menstrual cup, properly positioned, should no longer be felt or cause leaks!

If the stem bothers you when you sit or walk, you can shorten it by cutting it. Be careful not to cut the body of your cup.

If you don't have access to clean water when you change your cup, you can clean it with paper once it's empty. Remember to clean it properly once you get home.
